Krystyna Sakowska – clarinet
She graduated with honours from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in the clarinet class where she was taught by professor Mirosław Pokrzywiński.
She is the winner of numerous prizes and awards at national and international competitions:
- Winner of 2nd Silesian Music School Competition in Dąbrowa Górnicza (1993)
- 1st Prize and Special Prize for the best performance of a work written by a Polish composer at the National Clarinet Competition in Piotrków Trybunalski (1997)
- 3rd Prize and Special Prize for the best rendition of a contemporary work at Karol Kurpiński National Clarinet Competition in Włoszakowice (1997)
- 1st Prize won together with „Brindisi" wind quartet at the International Competition of Chamber Music Ensembles in Łódź (1998)
- 1st Prize won together with a clarinet quintet composed of musicians from the University of Music in Warsaw, in the chamber music ensembles category at the National Clarinet Competition in Piotrków Trybunalski (1999)
- 2nd Prize at the National Clarinet Competition in Piotrków Trybunalski (1999)
- 1st Prize and Special Prize awarded by Channel 2 of the Polish Radio during the National Competition of Wind Chamber Ensembles in Warsaw (2001)
- Finalist of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition in South Bend (USA)
- 3rd Prize for the composition "El Chartum" at Warsaw Composers Competition "Salony Letnie" (1997)
As a soloist and chamber music player, she performed with Polish Youth Symphonic Orchestra, „Camerata" String Quartet, „Prima Vista" String Quartet, Polish National Radio Symphonic Orchestra (first performance of „A Landscape of frozen thoughts" by Wojciech Ziemowit Zych for bass clarinet and orchestra) and the famous Hilliard Ensemble.
As an orchestra member, she performed at music halls and stages in Poland and abroad, visiting majority of European countries, the US, China and Japan. She has made numerous archival recordings for the Polish Radio and Television.
She has worked with orchestras such as Sinfonia Varsovia, Polish Chamber Orchestra, Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Penderecki Festival Orchestra, Sinfonia Helvetica, Philharmonia Hungarica. Also, she is the co-founder and member of Warsaw Wind Ensemble.
Since 2004, she has played the first chair clarinet and bass clarinet in the Warsaw Philharmonic.
